There is no exam or physical. You don’t even have to weigh in. It is just a one-time blood draw. It only takes a small amount of blood (not nearly as much as blood donation). We are collecting samples to test for the Lp(a) protein. Lp(a) is a protein in the blood that can be genetically elevated and build up in the artery regardless of exercise and diet, causing an increased risk of heart disease. We are collecting the samples to get a better understanding of the protein and risks and hopefully develop treatments in the future.

Make sure to hydrate really well with water the day before your appointment to make it easier to find your vein.
